The O'Jays
The O’Jays hail from Canton, Ohio, but they’re forever associated with The Sound of Philadelphia. After spending the ‘60s recording for various labels, producers Kenny Gamble and Leon Huff signed them to their brand-new Philadelphia International Records label in 1972. There, the vocal group’s perfect blend of sweet Philly soul and socially conscious lyrics made them legends, thanks to unforgettable hits like “Back Stabbers,” “Love Train,” “For The Love Of Money,” “I Love Music” and “Use Ta Be My Girl.” As proud inductees into the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame and the Vocal Group Hall of Fame, The O’Jays continued to record and tour well into the 2010s, led by original members Eddie Levert and Walter Williams.
